Storyline of Standing Tall:
The coach of the De La Salle Spartans, Bob
Ladouceur, watches his group win the
championship of their undefeated 2003 season. Following habit, the seniors
share their stories regarding what the team means to them. The juniors, celebrate
with team captain Chris Ryan, including Ladouceur's son Danny who has a possibility
of breaking the California state record for the maximum career number of
touchdowns. Through an argument about whether to accept a coaching propose at
the college stage, Ladouceur's wife Beverly tells him that he does not waste
enough time with his family. A division meeting among coaches places to have De
La Salle play beside Long Beach Polytechnic High School, a team with a similar standing.
Ladouceur appoints the team members in a passage from the Gospel of Luke which conditions
that all good deeds will be satisfied. This aggravates a mixed reaction from
players who come from underprivileged households. Reminded of group alumnus
Cameron Colvin, Ladouceur pays him a trip in Richmond, California and determines
that his mother is dying. Ahead returning home, Ladouceur experiences a heart
attack, impacting his aptitude to coach in the 2004-2005 season. Colvin is advanced
by his best friend Terrance Kelly who urges him to enroll at the University of
Oregon in order that they can play together. Not deficient to involve friends
